LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 330/25-281 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 8.00 g, 8 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned, on the bowl, with Skylla hurling a stone. Rev. EYΦ - [HPAKΛHIΩN] Herakles standing facing, holding club in his right hand and bow and arrow in his left; lion skin draped over his left arm; to upper left, Nike flying right to crown the hero; in field to right, Σ. HN Italy 1383. Van Keuren 81. Rare. A beautiful coin of splendid style. Some minor areas of weakness, otherwise, extremely fine.
